At the start of my teaching of Sino-African relations in History and Present at SIPA, Columbia in fall 2021, I asked students to write down with three words that first came into their mind when thinking of Sino-African relations. Below is the word-cloud created out of the students’ answers. I find it an interesting indicator of how China-Africa is perceived in elite student group.
